OUTDOOR EDUCATION
A comprehensive Outdoor Education programme provides unique experiences for our students.
Years 4-6 classes often have camps and outdoor trips.
Years 7 & 8 classes have a 3 day camp each year. Alternating between a water skills based experience and a tramping/outdoor skills based camp.
Year 9 classes experience a week in a mountain environment with tramping, river rafting, ropes courses, confidence building and team work activities.
Year 10 students have a snow experience each year with snow skills including snow boarding and/or skiing.
Leadership skills are developed through extensive courses in outdoor education at Years 12 and 13. These courses are fully fledged subjects and offer Achievement credits and Unit Standards on the NCEA framework. These courses take students out into the mountains and rivers in the top half of the South Island and offer extensive leadership training.
