We place great importance on the health and wellbeing of our students, ensuring they are able to fully participate and engage in all school activities.
Our Health Centre is staffed by a dedicated First Aid Officer and is open daily during school hours to assist students who feel unwell or require treatment for injuries sustained at school. If a student is unable to remain at school, the First Aid Officer or other staff will contact their whānau to arrange for them to be picked up and taken home.
For students who need to take medication during school hours, it should be provided in a clearly labeled container. All medications should be handed in to our First Aid Officer who will dispense them as needed.
Students can schedule appointments by emailing the counsellor directly.
During counselling sessions, students have a legal right to confidentiality, except in cases where there is an imminent risk to their own or others’ safety. This is clearly explained to students at the start of the counselling process.
The value of whanaungatanga, or community connection, is central at Oxford Area School. Parents, caregivers, or students with concerns about a student’s wellbeing are encouraged to reach out to a Dean or Counsellor.
