Our Arts program offers students a diverse and enriching selection of creative disciplines, including Visual Arts, Music, Dance, Drama, and various Cultural Groups.
Students can explore and express their creativity through hands-on experiences in each field, from mastering musical instruments and performing in theatrical productions to experimenting with different art techniques and engaging in cultural performances.
Our Arts faculty comprises highly qualified specialists who bring real-world expertise to their teaching; many continue to actively perform, create, and contribute to the arts community outside the classroom. This not only enhances their instruction but also provides students with valuable insights into the world of professional artistry, inspiring them to pursue their own creative passions and develop essential skills for self-expression, collaboration, and confidence.
Kapa haka holds significant importance in schools as it fosters cultural pride, connection, and understanding, particularly for Māori students and the wider school community. Through kapa haka, students learn and perform traditional Māori songs, dances, and chants, strengthening their connection to Māori heritage and language.
It promotes teamwork, discipline, and confidence, while also encouraging respect for New Zealand’s bicultural identity. Including kapa haka in the curriculum helps create an inclusive environment where students of all backgrounds can appreciate and participate in Māori culture, enriching the school’s sense of community and cultural awareness.
