Objectives
The aim of our program is to provide quality educational opportunities for all students. We also promote an understanding of other cultures for our New Zealand students and enhance the multi-cultural dimensions of our school through enrolling a limited number of international students. By limiting the number of international student enrolments we ensure that each student receives individual attention and care. These aims tie in with our strategic goals of providing quality education to all, making a range of experiences available to all students and building close and positive relationships with our community. The relatively small class sizes and the family atmosphere at our school create a much appreciated, efficient and safe environment for our international students. Multi-cultural The school attempts to have a mix of nationalities and encourages international students to build relationships with local students and to fully participate in all aspects of the school programme. Help is provided for teachers to ensure that international students integrate into classroom programs and activities. The school is actively promoted as a host school through advertising and through personal marketing. We are keen to attract quality students who will make the most of the educational and social opportunities we are able to offer. Support and student welfare At Oxford we pride ourselves in providing a high level of professional and pastoral support to welcome and care for our international students. A comprehensive policy and set of procedures has been developed to meet the needs of our international students. Qualified and experienced staff have been appointed to implement these and positive feedback from students indicates that careful planning and sound procedures are appreciated and effective. Our Home stay Coordinator meets all students at the airport on arrival. Carefully selected home stay families host all students, and the home stay coordinator is always available to help and guide students starting life in a new culture and new environment. Students are welcomed into the community and encouraged to become part of it.
